25 Students, 2 Schools, One Mission — PCI launches its first educational outreach.

Background & Organisational Overview

Professionals for Charity Initiative (PCI) was established to address the educational needs of intelligent but financially disadvantaged students in Nigerian public schools. Bringing together professionals from diverse walks of life, transcending religious and ethnic boundaries, PCI operates on the principle that small, consistent contributions can produce transformative outcomes. Members contribute as little as ₦2,000 monthly, demonstrating that collective commitment, however modest at the individual level, is a powerful engine for social impact.

On 23 January 2026, PCI conducted its inaugural outreach, marking a landmark moment in the initiative's journey from vision to tangible action.

Participating Schools

  • Aiyetoro Senior Grammar School - 20 Students supported

  • Herbert Macaulay Junior High School - 5 Students supported

Selection Criteria

Beneficiary selection was conducted in partnership with school principals and was anchored in academic merit. Students identified as the best performers in their respective classes were prioritised. This approach was deliberate, not only to reward excellence, but to inspire a culture of academic striving among non-recipients, creating a ripple effect that extends beyond the 25 students directly supported.

Selection was merit-based, focusing on top-performing students per class. This dual-purpose approach rewards academic achievement while motivating broader student performance across both schools.

Educational Support Items Distributed

Each beneficiary received a comprehensive package of educational materials designed to reduce barriers to learning and support academic progression:

  • 1 school bag

  • 2 sets of school uniforms

  • 2 pairs of socks

  • 1 pair of shoes

  • PCI customised notebooks

  • 10 Retort stands for Ayetoro Senior Grammar School's science laboratory

  • Textbooks for 5 core subjects (Science, Commercial or Art tracks) — SS2 students

  • JAMB registration forms with compiled past questions — selected SS3 students

The inclusion of JAMB registration materials for SS3 students reflects PCI's commitment to supporting the full educational journey — including university entrance preparation for those on the cusp of higher education.

Conclusion

PCI's inaugural outreach was a resounding demonstration of what professionals, unified by purpose, can achieve. By reaching 25 students across two public schools in a single outing, PCI has laid a strong foundation for a sustainable, scalable model of community-driven educational support.

This first outreach is only the beginning. As PCI's membership and contribution base grows, so too will the number of students whose potential is unlocked by the generosity of committed professionals. PCI remains steadfast in its mission: to ensure that financial circumstance is never the ceiling on a child's potential.

Every child deserves the chance to excel. With your support, whether as a monthly contributor, a one-time donor, or a professional joining our growing network, you can be the reason a student stays in school, passes their exams, and walks through the doors of a university. The cost of changing a life is just ₦2,000 a month. Will you be part of it?
